…just can’t wait to get on the road again. The life I love is running miles with my friends, and I can’t wait to get on the road again…
Of course, now that I am back on the road again it’s slow going. I know these aren’t “short” runs I’m doing at this point, but they still aren’t enough to satisfy me. But it’s all part of the process.
If you stopped running for more than two weeks…
In the beginning, take a day off after every running day. For your weekly mileage, you’ll need to gradually work up to your previous level. If you were running 40 miles per week before your injury, stop at 20 or 25 miles for a couple of weeks. Then build up to 30 or 35 miles per week before you hit the 40-mile mark again.
So yeah, I’m not following those suggestions to the letter, but they sure sound good, don’t they? And my first week was less than 50% of a normal week, so I’m not that far off base. Best of all, the weather has conspired to prevent me from running too much over the next week or so, try as I might.
In summary: recovery on track.
