I’m far from the first runner to make this point, but I’ll make it just the same:
I don’t jog. I run.
There’s a difference. Or rather, many differences. But at a fundamental level, there’s a question of form.
Not necessarily speed, though that often follows from form. In short: running involves strides during which both feet are, however briefly, off the ground at the same time. Jogging tends to be slower (and lead to fewer injuries) because of its shorter strides during which one foot is on the ground at all times.
